Parakh ("we", "us", or "the app") helps you scan packaged foods, estimate unpackaged meals, and track your daily nutrition. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using Parakh you agree to this policy.
1. Who we are
Parakh is operated by an independent developer (SKDev). For any privacy question or request, contact us at rsumit123@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
Account information
When you sign in with Google to use diet tracking, we receive and store your email address, a Google account identifier, and (if provided by Google) your display name and profile picture URL. We do not receive your Google password.
Food & health data you create
- Logged foods — the name, brand, portion size, and nutrient values (energy, protein, fibre, sugar, saturated fat, salt) of items you add to your day.
- Profile & targets — optional details you choose to enter, such as sex, age, weight, activity level, dietary goal, and any custom nutrient targets, used to personalise your daily targets.
Photos & scans
When you scan a barcode or product label, or snap a meal, the app processes the image and/or barcode to read the label or estimate the meal. Images are sent to our AI processing providers (see Section 4) solely to produce that result. Meal photos used for estimation are not stored in your account after the estimate is returned. We never use your images for advertising.
Usage & device data
- A random device identifier stored locally on your device to operate the app.
- A count of scans per day, used to enforce usage limits.
- Standard technical logs (e.g. request timestamps, error diagnostics).
3. How we use your information
- To provide the core features: scoring products, estimating meals, and tracking your daily nutrition against targets.
- To personalise your nutrient targets from the profile details you provide.
- To authenticate you and keep your logged data tied to your account.
- To operate, secure, debug, and improve the app.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
4. Third-party service providers
We share the minimum data needed with the following processors:
- Google Sign-In — authentication; provides us your email, account ID, name, and avatar.
- OpenRouter and its underlying model provider (Google Gemini) — process scanned label and meal images to extract nutrition or estimate meals.
- OpenAI — generates text embeddings used to suggest "healthier options"; it receives product text, not your personal data.
- Vercel — hosts the app front-end.
- Open Food Facts — a public product database we query for product information; it is a source of data, not a recipient of your personal data.
These providers process data under their own privacy terms. We may also disclose information if required by law.
5. Where your data is stored
Your account and food-log data are stored on our server infrastructure. Images sent for processing may be transmitted to the providers above, which may operate outside your country.
6. Data retention
We keep your account and logged data until you delete it or ask us to delete your account. Meal-estimation photos are processed transiently and are not retained after the estimate.
7. Your rights & choices
- Access & correction — view and edit your profile, targets, and logged foods in the app.
- Deletion — delete individual log entries in the app, or request deletion of your entire account and associated data by emailing us.
- Withdraw — stop using diet tracking at any time; you may sign out.
To exercise any right, email rsumit123@gmail.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.
8. Children
Parakh is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Medical disclaimer
Parakh provides general nutrition information and estimates for informational purposes only. It is not medical advice. Consult a qualified professional for dietary or health decisions.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
